To Video or Not To Video

Sue Petrisin for Vice President

When I ran for International Trustee in 2010 in Las Vegas, I thought it would be a cool thing to do a video for my website.  I had never done such a thing before so I was excited when my MSU colleague Chris said he’d help me out.  Now, three years later as I put all the pieces together for my campaign for Kiwanis International Vice President, Kiwanis International offered us the opportunity to put a video on our campaign page.  So, I accepted the challenge.

Over the last several years, I have had plenty of opportunity to speak in front of the camera.  And truthfully, it wasn’t one of my favorite things to do.  But I’ve gotten more comfortable with it.  It helps that I work with the best video team at MSU.  With Andrew and Russ doing all the work, they sure do make me look good!

So this is video number 2!  Who knows what will come next?  No matter what, I’ll be ready for it!

Kiwanis is My Lifestyle!

Each of us starts with an ability to be a great leader.  We own the wisdom to see and appreciate the global world we live in.  It is those who commit the wisdom to action that separates good leaders from great leaders.  Kiwanis taught me to be a great leader!

For more than 35 years, I have been a proud member of the Kiwanis-family.  I have had the opportunity to serve at all levels of our Kiwanis-family organizations.  Since my days in Key Club, each Kiwanis member I have worked with has taught me how to be an effective volunteer and community leader.  My involvement in Kiwanis has been instrumental in making me who I am today.

In my 27 years with Michigan State University I have focused on best practices, leadership and professional development, strategic planning, project management and fiscal responsibility.  I have taken every opportunity to learn from those I work with at all levels of the organization.

I believe that the combination of my Kiwanis and professional experience, has prepared me to be an effective leader helping build on our historic legacy of service excellence and with an inspired commitment to the future.
